Maskerade: the Movie

One cold, wintry morn in February 2001, several members of that esteemed fellowship Alt.Fan.Pratchett decided, against their better judgement, that they would try make a Movie based on one of the books of their favourite writer, Mr Terry Pratchett, OBE. No-one thought they could do it, and many Obstacles were placed in their path, but they Perservered through Thick and yeah, verily, even Thin.

Well, sort of.

The first thing we did was set up a mailing list. You can sign up by sending an email here, with the words "subscribe afpmovie (your email)" in the body. The list details are contained here. The list's activity tends to centre around the production meetings which happen on Sunday mornings at 10am GMT. Everyone is welcome to attend them, and instructions as to how are contained here.

(08/06/01) Auditions to go ahead. We've got three choice venues for you (and we're cuttin' our own throats), spread out around the country for ease of access.

The Clarecraft Discworld Event 3rd August 2001 Details

We have now formed the 1000 Elephants Club as an official society so we can pay (and hopefully receive) money to help the project along. We're a non-profit and above all amateur organisation, but don't let that put you off. This is supposed to be an adventure for all concerned - it doesn't matter if the closest you've ever got to a camera is the wrong side of the tv, most of us are in the same boat. We want ideas and enthusiasm, so join in, you never know what might happen!

(29/07/01): We've had some welcome legal advice, go here to see it! Also, it has been decided that we won't be offering a DVD package as it costs too much for relatively little demand. Make sure you check out our first real piece of Opera music for the movie, it's an approximate pseudo-Italian version of "The Hedgehog Song", written by the esteemed Joy Green.

(27/07/01): We now have three lovely new costume pictures courtesy of Soup-dragon - take a look! He's also done the poster for the event we're hosting at the Clarecraft Discworld Event.

(15/07/01): We need to find out whether it's a good idea to put the movie on both DVD and VHS. If you'd want a DVD of the movie, vote for that, and if you wouldn't, then vote for video, simple as that! The votes will be collated and the result posted to the mailing list in one month.

(10/06/01): I've put up a Cast list as a few people have requested one, plus descriptions and the main details of costume.
